Dance Movement Therapy

What is Dance Movement Therapy?

Dance Movement Therapy is the therapeutic use of dance, movement,
body awareness and nonverbal communication to promote integration
psychological, social, and physical aspects of the individual with the aim of improving their health and well-being.
This approach is based on the evidence of the mind-body connection and
considers the individual as a whole, drawing on various schools of psychology and
body techniques.

Who is it for?

Adults:

● As a tool for psychosocial support, prevention, and personal development.
● In addition to psychotherapeutic and/or psychiatric follow-up for
issues such as addiction, schizophrenia, and other disorders
psychotic disorders, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, consequences
trauma, etc.
● In addition to medical monitoring for conditions that cause pain and
physical difficulties such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis,
cancers, etc.

Children and adolescents:

● As a tool for dealing with minor emotional and social difficulties,
physical or cognitive.
● In addition, as part of comprehensive care for young people with
autism spectrum disorders, attention disorders, and disorders
psychic abilities in general.

Dance Movement Therapy allows you to:
● Connect with your body, get to know it, embrace it, and learn to appreciate it.
● Work on emotional skills: identification, understanding, expression
and regulation.

At Centre Pensées, we offer 50-minute individual sessions for
adults, teenagers, and children. 30-minute sessions are available to accommodate
specific needs.

We also offer a Dance Movement Therapy group for children.
Ages 7 to 11, Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (max. 6 children).
